The NearStack PCIe connector system and cable jumper assemblies from Molex enhance sign integrity, decrease insertion loss, and scale back sign latency. Developed in collaboration with members of the Open Compute Mission (OCP) for next-generation servers, NearStack replaces standard paddle-card cable connections with direct-attach cable expertise for optimized system efficiency.
NearStack’s direct-to-contact twinax termination eliminates the necessity for paddle playing cards inside the cable meeting. In contrast to competing cable jumpers, that are terminated by hand-soldering cable onto a PCB paddle card, NearStack makes use of a completely automated wire termination course of. Molex says this high-precision course of improves manufacturing efficiencies, repeatability, and sign integrity.
Molex NearStack parts have been optimized for top, PCB density, and robustness, whereas enabling implementation of PCIe Gen 5 32-Gbps NRZ knowledge charges. Rugged mechanical options, together with the optionally available angle-exit cable design, let technicians simply plug the jumpers into crowded boards. Along with assuaging area constraints, NearStack PCIe affords a low mated top of simply 11.1 mm for improved airflow administration.
NearStack PCIe was outlined and adopted as a regular by the Small Type Issue (SFF) committee as SFF-TA-1026, and OCP recommends the expertise as TA-1026 for server reference designs. As a part of an open SFF normal, the expertise is obtainable to second-source distributors beneath an inexpensive and non-discriminatory (RAND) license. NearStack PCIe has already been second-sourced via these licenses, with further licenses supplied to a number of distributors.
